Reflecting on Progress and Challenges on World Tuberculosis Day

Tuberculosis (TB) is the second deadliest infectious disease in the world—second only to COVID-19.  The World Health Organization estimates that 10.6 million people became infected with TB in 2021, and 1.6 million died of the disease. TB is both curable and preventable.
