FURNISHING WITH BOOKS
Yes, reading is still one of the most popular hobbies among Italians. Don't you believe it? You better believe it. Reading a good book connects everyone, young and old, and even the data seem to confirm this: 73% of readers only read paper books, 9.4% read e-books and 0.3% only listen to audiobooks (source: Istat). Books are accumulating in homes and offices, filling more and more space among everyday objects. Books, with their neat and perfectly geometric shape, decorate, regardless of how many or how few they are at home, they are always there because once they are finished they inhabit our spaces.
Even in this digital age, bookshelves do not lose their authentic charm, but which bookshop to choose? For this article, we bring to your attention two bookshops by Bonaldo, an Italian company active since 1936 in Padua and now established throughout Italy and abroad that knows how to distinguish itself for its refined and sometimes eclectic style, which never fails to surprise. The two bookcases we have selected represent in all their characteristics the harmony of shapes and lines that are typical of the Bonaldo style and that furnish the rooms of our homes. A focus on craftsmanship and made in Italy: the entire product line is manufactured exclusively in the Veneto region, Bonaldo uses only local suppliers and workers, demonstrating a strong link with the territory and its origins.
Dogma designed by Alain Gilles x Bonaldo is the second bookcase we propose. One of the first differences with Kaos that stands out is the material, Canaletto walnut or oak with metal uprights. Dogma is a bookcase with a double function, it can be placed along a wall or - as in the photo - it can be used as an equipped wall to separate spaces within a home. Finally, it is available with three different modules that can be combined or stand alone. The modern design, the excellent materials, the particular and elegant colours, the careful and precise workmanship and the finishes are the aspects that distinguish it. The Dogma bookcase is a visual play of spaces and lines.
Kaos is the name of the first bookcase designed by Mauro Lipparini x Bonaldo, a well-known Italian designer - winner of the Good Design® Global Awards in 2011. Kaos has a simple and modern design, its modules are made entirely of metal and interact with space, personal individuality and the need to place objects thanks to the presence of small holes in the uprights, the model shown here is in its larger production version.
